This announcement came shortly after the SAF successfully broke the RSF siege on its headquarters in Khartoum, achieved through a decisive link-up between its forces from northern Bahri and Omdurman with those stationed at the Signal Corps near the General Command of the Armed Forces.
“The command of the armed forces congratulates our forces on all combat axes on this victory, which came along with repelling the treacherous attack of the terrorist Al-Daglo militia this morning on the steadfast city of El Fasher and chasing them from the Khartoum Refinery in Al-Jaili and the military industrial complex,” the statement reads in part.
“Salutations to our armed forces and the forces supporting them Heaven and eternity for our righteous martyrs A speedy recovery for the wounded and a safe return to the prisoners and missing,” it added.
Al-Jaili hosts the Al Garri (Jaili) Refinery and a military production city. SAF forces from River Nile State and Kadro had been engaged in intense fighting to gain control of the area.
The SAF also claimed to have repelled an RSF attack on El Fasher, the capital of North Darfur State.
This latest advance by the SAF follows its recent recapture of the capital of Al Jazira State, which was met with accusations of civilian massacres by human rights groups and the government of South Sudan.
The RSF’s attempts to seize El Fasher have drawn a significant portion of its forces from central Sudan, making it increasingly difficult for the paramilitary group to sustain new military offensives and maintain control over territories it previously held at the start of the conflict.
This shift of forces to the Darfur region has weakened its presence in other areas, including Sennar, where it held the capital Sinja until November, and Al Jazira, where it maintained control until last week.
