JUBA – The Mayor of South Sudan’s capital Juba Kalisto Ladu has reportedly been involved in a fistfight with a local elder on Tuesday during a meeting of the Bari community where land issues in the capital Juba was discussed.
A reliable source who attended the meeting told Sudans Post that the misunderstanding occurred when one of the elders told the Mayor that he was carrying out illegal activities over the land in Juba.
“He was not insulted, but he was advised because what is happening in Juba every day is a crime and it is illegal. The elders told Kalisto that the current behaviors of some leaders toward the land were illegal,” the source who refused to be identified said.
“So, because of the ‘illegal’ comment, he get mad and he went to pull the elder by his cloth and here, other people who were attending the meeting when to hold him because it was not right,” the source added.
Sudans Post could not independently verify the circumstances in which the Mayor was involved in the fistfight, but photos circulating on Facebook appear to show the Mayor being diverted away from the unidentified elder who was not giving attention to him.
