
JUBA – South Sudan’s army chief, Gen. Gabriel Jok Riak, is set to be flown to Nairobi for emergency medical care, military officials and a number of family members who spoke to this website confirmed on Thursday.
Gen. Jok fell sick in the nation’s capital Juba on Saturday evening, few days after recalling General Puljang from Unity state.
Close aides confirmed to Sudans Post this afternoon that Gen. Jok Riak is being scheduled for Nairobi, Kenya for treatment after falling sick in Juba.
The close aides pointed out that the ailing top army general will be received by staff members of South Sudan’s embassy in Nairobi after his arrival which they said is likely to be on Monday.
“The army chief has suffered from stomachache and mild malaria. He is well. He is much better that yesterday after he went to the military hospital at Giada and he will continue the treatment in Kenya,” the sources added.
