JUBA – The South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) has enhanced its testing capabilities at the country’s border points, particularly at the Nimule border post, with the introduction of new laboratory equipment aimed at improving surveillance of substandard products.
On Saturday, the Bureau announced in a statement on its official page the acquisition of new lab kits designed to bolster the country’s capacity to identify and clamp down on low-quality products entering the market.
Gloria Nyoka, Executive Director of the Bureau, emphasized that these new tools would significantly enhance the Bureau’s ability to safeguard consumers.
“The South Sudan National Bureau of Standards (SSNBS) received new laboratory checkers to enhance testing capabilities at the Nimule border post and Juba laboratory,” the statement seen by Sudans Post reads in part.
Nyoka expressed her gratitude to the South Sudan Revenue Authority for its strong cooperation, which she said has played a crucial role in protecting consumers and strengthening the country’s economy.
“I deeply appreciate the South Sudan Revenue Authority for their strong cooperation, which has significantly contributed to enhancing consumer protection and strengthening the country’s economy,” Nyoka added.
The Bureau’s head also stressed the need for continued investment in laboratory equipment and facility advancements to ensure full operational capacity.
Nyoka highlighted that her top priority is to equip the labs with the necessary tools to enable technicians to carry out their duties efficiently and effectively, thereby ensuring the protection of the common citizens.
