JUBA – South Sudan on Tuesday called upon Turkish state-owned and private enterprises to consider investing in South Sudan in various sectors such as agriculture, tourism, fisheries, mining, education, banking, and infrastructure development.
Speaking during the celebration of the 101st anniversary of the Republic of Türkiye on Tuesday, deputy minister of foreign affairs, Monday Semaya Kumba, emphasized the deep-rooted historical ties between the two nations and countries.
“As a government, we are very satisfied with the status of our existing bilateral ties and we are committed to continue strengthening these relations to the highest possible levels in different fields of cooperation,” he said.
He highlighted the importance of building on the existing foundation of mutual understanding, respect, and win-win cooperation.
“It is my strong belief that Türkiye’s government and people are fully aware of our efforts as a government to meet the needs of our people and to build our nation. We look forward to continue having Türkiye’s support in different fields of our endeavor,” he added.
Amb. Kumba assured the government’s commitment to working together to promote bilateral relations in political, economic, cultural, and diplomatic fields, including close coordination within the United Nations family and the international arena.
“We will continue to work together to promote the existing bilateral relations between our two countries in all possible levels in the fields of political, economic, cultural, including close coordination within the United Nations family and international arena for the mutual benefits of our people, governments and countries,” he added.
Turkish Ambassador to South Sudan Erdem Mutaf reiterated his country’s unwavering support for South Sudan in various fields, including the peace process.
“We will maintain our unwavering support in many fields, as well as to the peace process in the coming period as well,” he said.
He highlighted Türkiye’s efforts to support South Sudan through humanitarian assistance and capacity-building at national, state, and local levels.
“During my tenure, we tried to support the Republic of South Sudan and her people in many ways, mostly in humanitarian and capacity-building fields at national and state, even PAYAM, levels,” he added.
Ambassador Mutaf expressed Türkiye’s sincere wish to see a peaceful, secure, and prosperous South Sudan with improved living standards for its citizens.
“It is my country’s sincere wish to see the Republic of South Sudan as a peaceful, secure and prosperous country, where the living standards and welfare of her citizens have been elevated,” he said.
“As an ambassador who lived almost four years in Juba, it is my strong conviction that after the extended period, South Sudan will reach a bright future that she well deserves through the peaceful, transparent and fair elections in 2026,” he added.
