JUBA – The South Sudan’s national Chamber of Commerce, Industry, and Agriculture (SSNCCIA) on Friday celebrated business excellence by awarding companies and individuals during its annual Chamber Quality Awards ceremony.

The awards recognize outstanding contributions in providing high-quality products and services in South Sudan, aiming to promote a culture of excellence and enhance service delivery standards.

The 2024 Chamber Quality Awards honored top performers across various sectors, including manufacturing, agriculture, private enterprises, telecommunications, airlines, banking, petroleum, hospitality, internet services, logistics, travel and clearance, construction, innovation, corporate social responsibility, and media, among others.

Out of 162 applicants, 51 companies received awards in different categories.

Speaking at the award ceremony on Friday, National Minister of Trade and Industry Amb. Joseph Moum Majak lauded the progress and resilience demonstrated by South Sudanese entrepreneurs.

“These awards were created to identify and honor the companies that go the extra mile to ensure their products and services meet local and international standards,” Majak said. “Beyond showcasing the role of quality in driving business growth, this initiative highlights its importance in shaping societal development.”

He emphasized the significance of excellence in driving the country’s competitiveness, saying:

“By honoring excellence tonight, we commit to raising the bar of industry standards, enhancing South Sudan’s business competitiveness, and ensuring a sustainable future for all. Congratulations to all nominees and winners of the 2024 National Quality Awards.”

Losidik Lukak Legge, SSNCCIA Chairperson, reaffirmed the credibility of the awards, dismissing allegations of favoritism or bribery.

“We award those who meet the qualifications, and we do not charge any fees for the awards,” Legge said.

Wani Tom Sebit, Minister of Trade and Industry, highlighted the significance of the awards in recognizing and encouraging excellence in business practices.

“This Chamber Award is important because it shows approval and gratitude for good work, making people aware that excellence will be rewarded,” he said.

Sebit also underscored the awards’ impact on customer satisfaction and corporate trust.

“It improves customer perception of companies and enhances their credibility, particularly when businesses demonstrate commitment to social corporate responsibility,” he said.

The Minister commended companies like MTN for their contributions and encouraged all businesses to give back to the community.

“To those who emerge as winners, your journey to do better is just beginning. Accept the awards with humility and dedication, and continue your excellent work,” he added.
