JUBA – South Sudan’s delegation to the 76th United Nations General Assembly led by Vice-President for Gender and Youth Cluster Rebecca Nyandeng De Mabior has arrived in the United States’ capital Washington DC, days after leaving Juba.
In a statement, Garang ‘s office said the vice-president arrived in Washington DC on Monday and paid a visit to South Sudan’s embassy there and will spend a week in the US capital before proceeding to New York City where the annual UN meeting is expected to take place.
“Yesterday, the Vice President and her delegation paid a courtesy visit to the South Sudan Embassy in Washington D.C. The Vice President is honoured to be delegated by H.E. President Salva Kiir Mayardit to address the United Nations General Assembly in New York,” the vice-president’s office said in a statement.
“The delegation will spend 1 week in Washington D.C. meeting with senior U.S. government officials before travelling to New York. The General Assembly will open on Tuesday, 14 September; however, the first day of the high-level General Debate will be on Tuesday, 21 September 2021,” it added.
