Last week, the ministry of water resources and irrigation announced the arrival of a 21-truck convoy from Egypt via Sudan carrying heavy dredging machines, sparking mixed reactions among the citizens.
Though the presidency continue to deny that it has clue over the machines and the project, the ministry of water resources and irrigation maintains that the agreement on the dredging project was reached between the government of Egypt and South Sudan during a meeting in Cairo last year.
Elario Adam Cholong, a Juba-based lawyer, logged a complaint against the government saying the “project is environmentally untenable and it will traverse protected area in East Africa, with undue regard to livelihoods, gender, food, children and public health of the East Africans.”
He argues that “the area through which the dredging project shall pass is comprised of several settlements, farmlands and water sources for thousands of indigenous persons and there has been no regard to their rights.”
He added that “the Egyptian dredging project will traverse many legally protected forest reserves and several rivers and lakes that water sources for thousands of people, animals and wildlife habitats.”
“The Applicants have a prime facie case as the people where the Egyptian dredging project is designed and environment will suffer irreparable damage if the application is not granted since the main reference raises issues of affecting livelihoods and the environment including: permanent loss of habitats, stress and mortality to flora and fauna, loss of primary productivity in watercourses, loss of ecological function among others.
“In addition, it is the Role of East Africa Court of Justice in balancing its interpretative jurisdiction against the needs of ensuring that Partner States are not unduly hindered in their development programs.”
Adam said South Sudanese “shall suffer substantial and irreparable loss and damages to the environment; wiping out of protected animals’ species and forest reserves, damaging the ecosystem and loss of livelihoods if the Respondents by themselves, employee and/or agents and their servants and/or employees are not stopped from dredging the River Nile.”
He said that the government of South Sudan has “already received the dredging machine from the Egyptian government and the suit will be rendered nugatory if a temporary injunction is not issued restraining the said project.”

Ukriane?!! South Sudanese piece of shits, breeding like guruwe/pigs/rabbits over the backs of other people and their countries is not a good idea. Yeah, Follow us.>>>>
These are facts
South Sudan is a East African country, but we are not your equal with your East African countries, we are the ancient Egyptians. AFRICAN UNITY and REGIONAL INTEGRATION ‘propagated by the devil worshipers, vampires, secret cabals, vermins/parasites/viruses/pests—–lowly informed South Sudanese pieces of shits, there will be no Kenya. Trust this and trust me. I studied at Nakuru High School, rift valley. Walai this country is only blessed with chicken-minded leaders and youths. why do South Sudanese always upheld so strongly the interest of other nations more than their own? I don’t know who to blame, God or something else? A whole country can only have a one person with senses and a great mind? Now he is gone, everything become a living hell. There is no signs that a human being and a great leader like Dr. John Garang may be found in this country, I wish we could all die and allow Dr. John inhabit this beautiful nation alone but it is only a wish. We were the ancients Egyptians but we are now South Sudanese, and our interest should always be a priority no matter what comes with it. The dredging project does not originate from us and it has a big negative impact on our environment and long term one. The climate is rapidly changing and one great mistake like river Dredging is the end of everything including humans. The Egyptians need our silts and that is their interest. we have been living with flooding many years before 2022 and the life still moves on. why can’t we find different ways of dealing with flooding that can also bring about development and make life more easier like creating dams that can generate electricity on the rivers concerned instead of killing the future of the forthcoming generation? shame on all of the useless leaders leading this beautiful nation with useless minds.
Even the so called educated Youth like Gol Bol with the Universities you have attended still can’t judge well? Africans unity is vital for our survival but before it is united we should upheld our identity and interest as Jinubeen, and this is very important. self-knowledge is everything.
If one continues following the annoying arguments of the few vultures who put their interest before the interest of the nation you only realize one thing.
Self centered individuals
Most of them changed their claims from flooding to easing way to facilitate water transport to allow free movement of goods into the country. On can easily be tempted to question if south sudan shall continue to be beggers who only rely on inports.
For the few who thinks they are educated with useless papers from all over the world but can not see what is good for the country I pity you for wasting all our nations resources to go and study in all those universities.

if the Egyptian continued with the dredging of our only hope ” THE NILE WATERS”, then it means South Sudanese leaders have failed to identify their roles as patriots of this country, what we need to know is that Egypt is compensating their water lost to Grand Dam constructed by Ethiopians along Blue Nile bordering Sudan, and therefore they are looking forward to dredging of our Nile Tributaries so that they should receive more water and recover the water lost to Ethiopian for their industrial and agricultural uses , my message to all South Sudanese is that, flooding is something seasonal and temporary but drought is permanent because dredging a river results to destructions of natural habitants and deforestation and destruction of flora and fauna leading to longer gap in dry seasons in the country which in turns can result into climatic changes and hence the local communities will suffer the effect constantly, let us be informed that the longest water of SPLA was triggered by this idea of Dredging the Nile waters especially Jongulei canal, there are a lot of ways for solving this flood in Upper Nile region without digging any river, one of best solutions is to constructs dykes or dig A rotational canal around upper Nile to connect it to the Bomas Mountain and to juba so that there should be a rotational movement of water instead of giving away our waters having fishes ,papyrus , sedimentary biodiversity of aquatic planktons of different species all this sort of aquatic life will go to Egyptian , we will be buying fish from Egyptian since there will be rapid movement and flow of water to Egypt giving no room for fish to breed due to fast movement of water, there will be low production in fishery industry in south due to destruction of fish habitats by dredging , we have our Native South Sudanese environmentalist they should access the effects instead of inviting Foreigners like what I saw on Facebook posted that “Hon Marial Benjamin inviting professor Jim Carter of London” and we all know that British is the route cause of this 1929 Nile Water Agreements , my worry is that South Sudan one day will be Conquered Unknowingly by unknown country image if the Egyptian can bring this big Machines without the notice of the government officials as aid by the minister of Natural resources and Environment , imagine if those machines brought by Egyptians were heavy Ammunition’s or artilleries’ will we not be vulnerable to them, we voted for a petition and presented by Professor John Akec the vice chancellor of the University of Juba to president KIIR MAYARDIT saying no to dredging of our rivers by Egyptians a petition voted by 250,000 people, let us wake up we should not be cheated by Egyptians in broad day light we have a lot to do with water if their purpose is to solve flood , we should rather build an artificial lakes to store this Nile waters we should not be dictates by Egyptians we know what to do with our waters
