South Sudan lawmakers vying for seats at East African parliament to be charged $1000

South Sudan lawmakers looking for seats at the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) will be charged at least $1000 as a nomination fees, the clerk of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly said in a statement this week.

JUBA – South Sudan lawmakers looking for seats at the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA) will be charged at least $1000 as a nomination fees, the clerk of the Transitional National Legislative Assembly said in a statement this week.

In a statement written to the parties making up the transitional parliament in Juba, Makuc Ngong, said those with ambitions to serve in the East African Parliament must submit their names to the parliamentary leadership with a fee of $1000 by Friday.

“I hereby take this opportunity to write to your esteemed political parties offices to nominate as a matter of urgency members to the East African Legislative Assembly (EALA),” he said in the letter seen by Sudans Post.

“Each nominee or candidate is required to pay $1000 non-returnable election fees. The names of nominees or your candidates for this election are to be forwarded to the office of the clerk of TNLA not later than September 16th, 2022,” he added.
