South Sudan oil refinery to start operating next year in Unity state

JUBA – South Sudan government has announced that oil refinery in the country’s Unity state will start operations during the first quarter of 2021, according to the director of state-oil firm Nilepet.

The Managing Director of NilePet Bol Ring said the operations of the joint venture between Nile Petroleum and Russia’s Safinat, will start in block 1, 2 and 4 of the state.

“Safinat and NilePet group will be starting operating the refinery in block 1, 2 and 4 in Unity state and we are expecting this refinery to operate within three to four-months from now,” Ring told reporters in Juba Wednesday.

“The preparations started, today (Wednesday) the team arrived at the site and the other team will also reach to block 3, 7 after two days from now, and they will start the commissioning of one subsidiary,” he added.

    just point of correction about the picture; this is not oil spill it is detention pond which is near to facility that oil will be heating and pump again to processing facility then pump back to the pipeline for export.
