The party, led by Deng Bol Aruai, was expelled for absenteeism from meetings.
COOP members, include People’s Progressive Party led by Gabriel Kuot Akok, United People’s Party (UPP) under Natale Ukele and African People’s Congress (ANC) of Deng-Bil William Aguer, among others.
The COOP chairperson, Gai Chol Paul told reporters on Monday that the membership of the CPA was revoked over continued absence from meetings.
“The CPA has been absent in the country for long. When we are holding meetings, no one represents the party and that is the main reason for its dismissal,” he said.
Chol said they also revoked membership of the Federal Democratic Party (FDP).
“We also dismissed Federal Democratic Party whose leadership is under dispute, Federal Democratic Party under William Wiyual is part of the Coalition of Opposition Parties and the faction headed by Gabriel Changson Chang is part of South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA),” stressed the COOP chairperson.
He appreciated the expelled parties for the contribution and support rendered.
“However, due to recent development within the coalition, the leaders have decided to temporarily freeze membership of parties without active leaders in Juba and those with ongoing leadership disputes,” said Chol.
