“The only vision and the program the SPLM led government had in their minds was the Independence of South Sudan but they failed to lay out programs on what happens if Southern Sudan succeed from the north,” Wani Michael, a Juba-based activist says.
“Post-Independence programs or conversations were lacking and that’s why they’ll continue to make reference to the Independence of South Sudan as their ONLY ACHIEVEMENT,” the activist added.
South Sudan is marking its ten-year since independence next week, but while the government is consolidating peace, international observers have warned that sub-national fighting between ethnic communities threatens to return the country to crisis.
Wani says: “Lack of SPLM led government vision and services delivery programs on what next after Southern Sudan attain its independence brought us all this mess. They instead focus their programs and energies on LOOTING everything and shamelessly they still call themselves ‘LIBERATORS.'”
“There’s another big disease killing our Country and that’s ‘ENTITLEMENTS.’ The liberators individuals, their children and relatives think they’re entitled to looting and all sort of privileges whereas, the poor people are suffering,” he added.
