RENK – Four South Sudanese opposition generals, formerly loyal to General Simon Gatwech Dual, were arrested by Sudanese security forces in Jebellen last month and deported back to South Sudan on Friday last week.

The detentions stem from alleged collaboration with the Sudanese Rapid Support Forces (RSF).

A senior member of the SPLA-IO Kitgwang transitional military council, speaking anonymously to Sudans Post on Tuesday, confirmed the arrests, on November 26, and identified General Manyang Kerlual Nyinyar as one of the detained commanders.

The source claims Sudanese intelligence accused the generals of fighting alongside the RSF, citing a phone call from RSF officer Lt. Gen. Gibril Tap Gatjiek discovered on General Manyang’s phone.

“They were arrested about a month ago in Jebellen,” the source stated. “When Sudanese intelligence checked their phones, they found a call from Lt. Gen. Gibril Tap Gatjiek of the RSF, which made the situation worse.”

The source alleges the generals were subjected to severe physical abuse before their deportation.

They are now in Renk, South Sudan, and have reportedly declared their renunciation of rebellion and desire to be integrated into the South Sudan People’s Defense Force (SSPDF).

Thousands of South Sudanese citizens, driven by the lure of arms and financial gain, are currently fighting alongside the RSF.

Gatjiek, a South Sudanese native from Rubkona County, Unity State, has been a prominent figure among them, receiving the rank of major general from the RSF.
