JUBA – A female South Sudanese-Australian has launched an online media platform that aims to empower South Sudanese, especially women and the young people, both at home and in the diaspora.

Titmar John founded and became the CEO of The Junubia , an online platform that was established in June 2021 to empower young people. The management of the platform include several youth volunteers that include Nyamal Oshan, the director, and Kim Duop who is the manager.

Titmar told Sudans Post that the platform conducts interviews featuring celebrities, politicians and senior citizens.

The female media personality said she is also the founder of the South Sudanese Women’s Empowerment Inc., a non-profit organization based in Melbourne, Australia.

Asked of the purpose of the online platform, Titmar told Sudans Post that they aim to empower and educated South Sudanese citizens back home and in the diaspora with huge focus on women and young people.

“Our vision is to educate, entertain, and empower South Sudanese globally, in South Sudan, and the diaspora. We hope to do so by conducting interviews on a regular basis with influential South Sudanese public figures in the sectors of entertainment, business, and politics,” Titmar said.

She also added that their mission is to also “promote South Sudanese culture, increase awareness of women’s health, engage with South Sudanese youth to shed light on success stories and to provide a platform for South Sudanese journalists and journalism students, particularly in Africa, to share their work.”

“Junubia aims to make a positive impact on the lives of South Sudanese by actively engaging with the youth and women and ensuring Junubia is one of many online platforms for them to discuss and debate on cultural challenges and some of the generational differences,” she added.

“At Junubia we will endeavor to emphasize the message of unity among all tribes of South Sudan, and this message is particularly directed to the young people. The future is the youth and if we want a united South Sudan, unity must be at the forefront when we are discussing national issues,” Titmar explained.

She further said that the platform’s target audience is South Sudanese worldwide, “with a focus on women and young people. We plan to engage with South Sudanese through sharing of information be it by open dialogue, story sharing, social media, and other forms of communication.”

“Our message to our target audience is that we want them to continue to make Junubia their home. There are millions of South Sudanese scattered around the world, and in the twenty-first century, the best method of communication is online. We strongly encourage anyone interested to participate in the conversation to contact us, or should they have any queries.”
