CAIRO – Egypt-based South Sudanese content creator Penton Keah has surpassed 100,000 subscribers on YouTube, receiving a Silver Play Button award from the platform.
Keah, who launched his YouTube channel in 2017, has become a prominent figure in both online communities.
He boasts not only a large YouTube following, making him one of the most subscribed-to South Sudanese creators on the platform, but also holds the title of the most followed South Sudanese personality on Facebook.
Keah’s content focuses on relatable themes for the South Sudanese diaspora.
His videos explore the experiences of “village wive” adjusting to city life, the challenges and humor of life for villagers in urban environments (a topic that resonated with viewers), and the cultural clashes South Sudanese people face when living in the Western world.
This focus on relatable content, coupled with his comedic approach evident in video titles like “This Love Will Shock You” and “8 Years In Kenya,” may be key factors contributing to his online success.
Keah’s excitement about receiving the award was evident in his statement. “I heard a knock at my door this morning and it was a delivery from New York!”
This anecdote highlights the international reach of his content and the global audience he has cultivated.
