South Sudan’s delegation to 76th UN General Assembly prepares for New York trip – VP Rebecca Garang

South Sudan's Vice President for Youth and Gender Cluster Mama Rebecca Garang De Mabior has said that she is preparing the country's delegation to the 76th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Radio Tamazuj reports.

JUBA – South Sudan’s Vice President for Youth and Gender Cluster Mama Rebecca Garang De Mabior has said that she is preparing the country’s delegation to the 76th United Nations General Assembly in New York, Radio Tamazuj reports.

President Salva Kiir Mayardit had Last week, delegated Garang to lead the country’s delegation for this year’s UN General Assembly.

In an interview with Radio Tamazuj, Mrs. Garang that the high-level delegation she will head is preparing itself for the mission.

“The general assembly will be on the 21st so we are waiting for our Visas. When the Visas are out, some of us will go and others will follow later. I am going with five ministers from the revitalized government of national unity,” she said.

She, however, did not disclose which of the ministers will travel with her.

Nyandeng, who is expected to address the assembly on the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement, will be the first female leader to represent the country at the assembly.

The 76th session of the UN General Assembly (UNGA 76) will open on Tuesday, 14 September 2021. The first day of the high-level General Debate will be Tuesday, 21 September 2021.
