JUBA – South Sudan’s minister of water resources and irrigation Manawa Peter Gatkuoth Gual has traveled to the Senegalese capital Dakar for this year’s World Water Forum, according to his office.
In a statement, the office said the minister was accompanied by senior government officials of the ministry of water resources and irrigation and will be in the West African County for around 7 days.
“The Minister of Water Resources and Irrigation Hon. Manawa Peter Gatkuoth had traveled yesterday evening to the Republic of Senegal. Hon. Gatkuoth went to Senegalese capital, Dakar for seven-day visit in order to attend the World Water Forum,” the ministry said in a statement extended to Sudans Post.
“Hon. Gatkuoth was accompanied by Hon. Bonguot Amum Okech, the Chairperson of the Specialized Committee of Water Resources and Irrigation at Reconstituted Transitional Legislative Assembly (R-TNLA), Hon.Yar Paul the Managing Director of the Urban Water Corporation and other technical staff in the Ministry,” the statement added.
World Water Day is an annual United Nations observance day held on 22 March that highlights the importance of fresh water. The day is used to advocate for the sustainable management of freshwater resources.
