JUBA – The Commissioner-General of South Sudan National Revenue Authority, Dr. Patrick K. Mugoya has suspended his Commissioner for Corporate Services, Daniel Magok Deng.
In a suspension letter seen by the Sudans Post, Dr. Mugoya suspended Magok Deng for alleged incompetence in the management of the National Revenue Authority affairs.
“You are hereby suspended from duty with effect from the date of this letter pending investigation by an independent panel which will accord you the opportunity to defend yourself,” Dr. Mugoya said in a suspension letter dated 11 November 2021.
Dr. Mugoya claimed that Magok has grossly failed to perform his duties diligently despite holding the position for more than 15 months.
“Your responsibilities include coordinating administrative support services covering inter alias, human resources, finance, revenue collection control and transfers, properties, facilities, and logistics management but despite holding this position for more than 15 months, the record shows that you have grossly failed in all the above functions,” he said.
He said Magok has been recruiting staff illegally without adhering to any procedures and obtaining approval from him.
“Five months after commencement of the current financial year, you have failed to submit a draft budget for authority despite numerous oral and written reminders by commissioner-general,” he said.
The Commissioner-General accused Magok of diverting the NRA funds for his own personal benefit.
“This is not only misuses of NRA funds but also insubordination, given the fact that you never even apologized or mentioned anything to do with the directive when you reported back for duty,” he said.
The order which came into effect on 11 November 2021 has barred Magok from accessing his office at NRA until the pending investigation is completed.
