JUBA – A senior South Sudan government official has said that the country’s ruling and fractured party, the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM), will get a new name before conduct of general elections, due for end of the transitional period in 2022 to reflect the independence of the world’s youngest country from Sudan.

The former rebel movement was established in 1983 by late founder, Dr. John Garang De Mabior, who then thought to unite Sudan that was under a Islamic rule under what was known as ‘New Sudan’ project that seek to keep Sudan a united, but a just country. Following

Following South Sudan’s independence in July 2011, the SPLM which raised to power in the then Southern Sudan, did not change its name although calls for leaders to do so escalated in recent years even after its disintegration into several factions in December 2013.

Currently, there are several factions for the SPLM. They are the ruling SPLM-IG under President Salva Kiir Mayardit, SPLM-IO under First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny, SPLM-FDs under Deng Alor Kuol, the Real-SPLM under ex-Secretary General Pagan Amum, and the Democratic Change (previously SPLM-DC).

Speaking to Sudans Post in an exclusive interview on Monday evening, a senior SPLM official close to President Salva Kiir Mayardit said the party is planning to change its name before conduct of elections which he said will not take place as planned until 2023.

“Before the elections take place 2023, the SPLM party need to be renamed so that it reflect the independence and diversity of the Republic of South Sudan. It is obvious that elections will not take place in 2022 because of the delays experienced by the implementation of the revitalized peace agreement,” the senior SPLM official who refused to be named said from Juba.

“There are many factions of the party currently including some that does not follow the visions and values of the SPLM party. This is one of the reasons also being considered to prefer giving the party a new name,” the official added.

“South Sudan’s ruling SPLM party to be renamed before elections in 2023 – official”

Just keep the SPLM, win elections and change the name of the SPLM after we take all our still occupied lands by our enemies back. Mr. Riek Machar came here to Bor town, dressed themselves with ‘military uniforms’ after their ‘foiled coup attempt on the 15/12/2013 in Juba’ and his armed rebellion “Sudanese resistant movement (SRM)”. His secret secret societies handlers *quickly took him to hotels, bars and brothels of Abeshas (so-called ethiopopa)* And went and told the low life (Riek Machar), that if he use his Sudanese resistant movement (SRM), then he will not be supported by his foreign *handlers, secret societies and the criminals covet our country and our people to death*

The evils told their *Riek machar and allies* to stop using *the name, Sudanese resistant movement (SRM)* or they would not be supported South Sudanese people and them.

And that was why *SPLM/A-IO* was created in the *Hotels, brothels and Adis Ababa* Abesh (so-called ethiopia) prostitute. Mr. Riek Machar went and be moved around from *Adis Ababa to Kenya, Arusha, Tanzania, South Africa, Uganda, North Sudan and Abesh (so-called ethiopia) prostitutes.

He was even allowed to go Democratic republic of Congo (D.R.C). that is Mr. Riek Machar gone to Deng Nhial battalion. The low life is a fake PhD doctor, not only him Mr. Lam Akol.

    Fellows this space.

Renaming the party can’t bring any change to this country unless the top officials are rid off in the race.

Well, I think we have to tell the truth about the issue affected South Sudanese people. First of all, the name of Sudan cannot and will not be be aviod because the South is the country but the Sudan is still there because it represents the Sudanese people and I want people not to confuse there is no way we can not use the name of Sudan. The changing name of SPLA to SSPDF was unwise and it was also too quick too early to change the most famous name in which more than 3 million people dies in the name of the SPLA and SPLM. The name itself has nothing to do with the political situation but the people attitudes is the biggest problem in South Sudan.

Second to that, there is no secret on what name should the ruling party SPLM would need. The first Party in the country always must be Republican and the title of government is Republic of South Sudan nation period. The members of the SPLA and SPLM who fallen apart for political bitterness have use the SPLM name because this was a historical movement for all people who have had contributed to struggle. The masses in South Sudan cannot be blamed only on the oppositions, the President Salva Kiir Mayardit would have prevented conflict at the time he walked away in the convention and he added fuel when he dismissed his vice President Riek Machar and forgot that, South Sudan is a tribal nation and law need to be applying properly so the ruling party SPLM are part of the problems in South Sudan.

Changing the name of SPLM party to another name in the Republic of South Sudan is unbecoming and it’s doesn’t sound meaningful, the mistakes that had happened by changing the national army from from SPLA to SSPDF we done need to happen again in party as the SPLM members
