JUBA – The Chairman of the SPLA-IO National Disarmament, Demobilization and Integration Commission (NDDRC) Major-General Hoth Gor Luak has submitted his resignation to First Vice President and SPLM-IO Chairman Dr. Riek Machar Teny and has declared his intention to join the SPLA-IO faction led by former SPLA-IO chief of staff General Simon Gatwech Dual.

“I Hon. Major-General Hoth Gor Luak would like to inform the leadership of president of the republic of South Sudan H.E Salva Kiir Mayardit that from today 7th September 2021, I have declared my resignation from the position of National Disarmament, Demobilization and Integration commission (NDDRC) that I was appointed to as representative of SPLM/A /IO by Dr. Riek Machar Teny as According to the revitalized peace agreement terms,” General Hoth said in a statement extended to Sudans Post.

While announcing that his decision to join General Simon Gatwech Dual is effective from today, General Hoth accused Machar of failing to implement the revitalized peace agreement signed by him and President Salva Kiir three years ago and said the main armed opposition leader has instead chosen to surrender to President Kiir against the will of the general public in the SPLM-IO.

“Dr. Riek Machar Teny whom we think will implement the revitalized peace agreement he went to Juba for had totally failed to peruse the implementation of revitalized peace agreement to the maximum but instead he went to Juba and chose the 1st Vice President of the Republic of South Sudan he thinks is the only final solution to the revitalized peace agreement,” General Hoth said.

“I cannot Surrender myself to the government of President Salva Kiir without implementation of revitalized peace agreement and leave the bulk of SPLM/A/IO in the bush. I cannot surrender myself to government of President Salva Kiir because of position of DDRC that was not my objective that took me to join SPLM/A-IO,” he added.

He further stated that “I want a complete change of Juba government that will bring a final peace to the young nation of people of South Sudan. The revitalized peace agreement must be implemented by hock and crock.”
