SPLM-IO official says NSS attempted to arrest him

In a statement, Majokdit said the deputy director of National Security Service in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state tried to arrest him while he was entering his office. He said the security officer took away his phone after resisting the arrest.

JUBA – A senior member of South Sudan’s main armed opposition Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) and the head of the RRC in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state has said that the National Security Service (NSS) in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state attempted to arrest him near his office.

Dut Majokdit is a senior member of the SPLM-IO and a close ally of First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny. He was appointed earlier this year as the chairman of the Relief and Rehabilitation Commission for Northern Bahr el Ghazal state.

In a statement, Majokdit said the deputy director of National Security Service in Northern Bahr el Ghazal state tried to arrest him while he was entering his office. He said the security officer took away his phone after resisting the arrest.

“The NSS deputy Director in Northern Bhar El Ghazel State has attacked and attempted to arrest me this morning at the NRC gate and he has taken my phone without reasons after I resisted the attempt with my bodyguard the interfere in the RRC Affairs and it’s not their Mandate,” he said.
