SPLM-IO Secretary-General visits Yambio as parties prepare for 2024 vote

The Secretary-General of the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) Regina Joseph Kaba on Tuesday arrived in Western Equatoria State capital Yambio to discuss issues to do with party organization.

JUBA – The Secretary-General of the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) Regina Joseph Kaba on Tuesday arrived in Western Equatoria State capital Yambio to discuss issues to do with party organization.

Kaba who was welcomed by thousands of residents of Torit mostly supporters of the SPLM-IO said it is her first time to visit that part of the country and revealed that she was there for party issues ahead of the expected 2024 elections.

“I am so happy to be here with you people, it is my first time to be here in Yambio. So this is an official visit, we are here for a party visit with our party mission. So, we will discuss issues on how to manage our party and fulfill our objectives,” she said as quoted by Radio Tamazuj.

For his part, the governor of Western Equatoria State Gen. Alfred Futuyo welcomed the senior SPLM-IO official and assured her of her security.

“We have the director of police, director of prisons, and director of national security with us here. They are aware of your coming and the time you will spend here. They have put in place arrangements for your security,” he assured her.
