RUMBEK – The Sudan People’s Liberation Movement-in Opposition (SPLM-IO), the main opposition group under the country’s First Vice President, Dr. Riek Machar, in Lakes State, revealed on Thursday a plan to replace those it said are ‘incompetent’ officials serving in various institutions.
Jobdit Mandela Maciek, Press Secretary in the Office of the Deputy Governor, Lakes State, stated that this decision was made during the party’s first Forum held in Rumbek on Thursday.
“The First Forum resolved to replace the Executives and MPs at the National and State level who are incompetent and have done nothing in the Party and the Government Offices,” Mandela said in a statement extended to Sudans Post after the forum.
Mandela further mentioned that the forum was officiated by Dr. Isaiah Akol Mathiang, Chairperson of SPLM-IO in Lakes State, aimed at evaluating the SPLM-IO’s political work in the state.
“The first Forum Was deliberately convened to evaluate the SPLM-IO Political work of every member holding a position in the Parliament and Executive at National Level and Levels respectively,” he said.
Regarding the recent massive defection of some party members led by Former Deputy Governor of Lakes State, Poth Madit Dut, Mandela described it as a political strategy to address failures and facilitate the planned replacement within the SPLM-IO.
“Therefore; For public consumption, the massive defection of some executives and members of parliament of Lakes State at National and state led by former deputy governor of Lakes State, Hon. Cde. Poth Madit Dut is a political methodology of overriding the failures and plans of replacement of the SPLM-IO,” he said.
