KUAJOK – A senior member of Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) in South Sudan’s Warrap state has joined the Sudan People’s Liberation Movement in Opposition (SPLM-IO) led by First Vice President Dr. Riek Machar Teny, saying the SPLM faction under Kiir has led down the people of South Sudan.

Mark Anei Mading, a member of the ruling faction in Warrap state said in a statement extended to Sudans Post that he defected along with almost fifty (50) members of the ruling faction in Warrap state.

“I Mark Anei Mading from Warrap State would like to publicly declare that I have quit my membership from the ruling SPLM party from this day, the 2nd of October 2020 and join SPLM- IO under the leadership of H.E Dr. Riek Machar Teny with other 48 members,” Anei said in the statement.

He said he couldn’t further endure what he said is the SPLM repression of the people of South Sudan saying the ruling faction has jeopardized to effect change in the world’s youngest country.

“I have observed for a long time hoping that SPLM would adopt changes in regard to rampant corruption, oppression, nepotism and friendly governance practiced by few individuals who took laws into their hands to marginalize others,” Anei said.

“Several unaccountable reasons that qualify everyone to desert SPLM have been occurring but patience had been the major force behind my membership. It is unfortunate that I could not tolerate the bitter I felt after two young men were arrested and detained without justice,” he added.

Anei also said one of the reasons for his defection  is the “detention of Kanybill Noon four months back without justice or procedural laws approved by the court. The second case is Makuach Maror by a bribed court as corrupt former Minister Salvatore Garang Mabior bribed the court.”
