JUBA – The secretary-general of the ruling Sudan People’s Liberation Movement (SPLM) faction Peter Lam Both has been hospitalized after undergoing surgery in Germany, a senior party member who is familiar with the matter has said.

Santo Malek Anei, the acting SPLM party secretary of information and communication, said Lam was hospitalized and received surgery on December 5 in a Germany hospital and has since been recovering from the medical process.

“Some people have contacted me and expressed concerns about his health condition. But I can reassure the public that he is fine, I spoke with him, and his wife also spoke with me,” Anei said, according to the independent Radio Tamazuj.

The party official however described the surgery as “minor” without indicating why Peter Lam had to receive a surgery nor the medical condition the senior party official was suffering from.
