SSBC journalist working at Taban’s office suspended for ‘abusive’ acts against Lakes state governor

Vice-president Taban Deng’s office director Elijah Tut said in a letter extended to Sudans Post that journalist Poth Johnson was suspended due to “abusive and irrespective accusations on social media against the Governor of Lake State who is a senior govemment official.”

JUBA – A national television journalist belonging to the state-owned South Suda. Broadcasting Corporation (SSBC) attached to the office of vice-president Taban Deng Gai has been suspended for allegedly mocking newly appointed Lakes state governor on social media.

According to a suspension letter signed by Elijah Tut Bikot, the executive director in the office of the vice-president, journalist Poth Johnson who was assistant director of SSBC at Taban’s office will no longer discharge his duties and would be investigated in absentia.

“In reference to your abusive and irrespective accusations on social media against the Governor of Lake State who is a senior govemment official I regret to inform you by the provision of this letter that you have been “Suspended from your role as A/Director of SSBCTV Controller effective from 24h February 2021 henceforth,” the suspension letter partly reads.

“Yaur actions constituted an act of offense, grievous assault to a senior official and are erratic to your work ethics as reporter in the office of the Vice President. During the peniod of your suspension, you will no further represent the office of the Vice president and or your department in any matters whatsoever,” it adds.

The letter says “A committee shal be formed to investigate you in your absence and their decision shail determine any further remedy to case.”
