RUMBEK – A court in Lakes State has fined a lawmaker seven cows or two months in jail after being found guilty of committing adultery.
A Rumbek Central County court ruled that the Yirol West County MP in the state assembly, Luka Agok violated the Dinka customary laws, which attracts a two-month jail sentence.
The MP represents South Sudan Opposition Alliance (SSOA) in the state assembly.
Judge Gano Daniel Nyowella said the MP violated Article 266 of the Penal Code Act, 2008 and was fined in accordance with the Dinka Bahr el Ghazal customary laws.
However, while the lawmaker was fined SSP 200,000, court also found the woman involved in adultery guilty and fined her SSP 100,000 or one month in jail.
