SSPDF general’s bodyguards killed in Juba, suspect arrested

JUBA – Two bodyguards of a senior South Sudan army general have been killed in the country’s capital Juba this morning, several sources have said with the police in Juba confirming the incident.

“Two bodyguards of General Angongdit have been killed this morning. The suspect was an unknown gunman from the beginning, but he has so far been identified and arrested,” the source told Sudans Post from Juba.

The police said in a statement that it has arrested the suspect whom it has identified as Sergeant Mark Madeng Goch saying he was undergoing investigation to answer why he carried out the gruesome murder.

“The Police has this morning Arrested the prime suspect who killed two people at Tongping residential area of Juba, the suspect who is identified as Sgt. Mark Madeng Goch is an SSPDF personnel, Madeng Goch is now under police custody awaiting Investigation,” the police said in the statement.

“The Inspector-General of police Gen Majak Akec Malok convey his condolence message to the family of the deceased as he assured the public that the suspect is under police custody,” the statement added.
