Gen. Angon replaces Gen. Akuei Ajou who has been in charge since July 2021.
In his remarks during the handover ceremony at Wunyiik Division last week, Gen. Akuei said his time as a commander ended without any skirmishes at the border.
He urged his successor to be vigilant as some elements could infiltrate the border.
The former division commander underscored importance of a well-fed army.
“I would like to ask your upcoming leadership to feed the army as some stores are getting empty. Kindly work with the SSPDF leadership so that this army is properly fed,” he said.
“They should never be foot soldiers who can’t deter any aggression,” he added.
Gen. Akuei urged good maintenance of army vehicles through regular checking.
For his part, the new Infantry Division 3 commander vowed to work hard in his new role.
He further promised to regularly update civilians on all happenings at the border.
Based at Wunyiik in Aweil East County, The Infantry Division 3 of the SSPDF is believed to be the strongest group among the nine other divisions of the military.
