In a statement, Yakani who is also the Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) said his organization appreciates the efforts because the conflict in Sudan is impacting South Sudan negatively.
“CEPO appreciates the effort of South Sudan leadership for investing efforts for seeking durable solutions to Sudan political crisis. This is good because any political instability in Sudan has direct negative implications on South Sudan stability in many aspects ranging from humanitarian situation and economic and social,” he said.
“President Salva Kiir’s trip to Cairo to meet Egyptian political leadership for seeking durable political settlement of Sudan ongoing deadly political violence and grave human rights violations were rape is used as weapon of war,” he added.
The prominent activist further said that “one key role that political leadership of South Sudan should play is maintaining high commitment to the mediation and negotiation impartiality. It is essential that President Salva Kiir should ensure that his political leadership is fully commitment to zero double standards for handling political settlement of the Sudan ongoing political crisis since it is very sensitive political situation with conflicting national, regional, and global interests.”
“CEPO is urging African Union and United Nations leadership to really take Sudan political crisis seriously because the Sudan political instability is real case study of collapsing functional state and government in the horn of African. This is a case of great interest to some governments in the gulf region. Any political instability in the horn of African is of their great interest,” he added.
