KHARTOUM – Sudan’s federal ministry of education has established a specialized committee to assess the feasibility of holding Sudanese secondary certificate exams in areas under the control of the Rapid Support Forces (RSF).
The exams are scheduled for late December, but students in RSF-controlled states face uncertainty about where they will sit for their exams.
The ministry has already decided to transfer students from North Darfur to other states, including West and North Kordofan, Northern State, and River Nile State.
Al-Tahir Mohamed, Director of Secondary Education in West Darfur, noted “limited communication between his office and the federal education ministry concerning the arrangements for the exams.”
No final decision has been made regarding the exams in insecure states, according to sources familiar with the matter.
The ministerial committee formed to deliberate on the issue, particularly for Darfur states, is expected to submit its findings to the national examinations committee in the coming days.
The federal ministry had previously requested that insecure states compile a list of students from other areas who are now residing in Darfur and wish to sit for the exams.
