Sudanese defense minister arrives in Juba for bilateral relations

The Sudanese defense minister Yasin Ibrahim Yasin has arrived on Wednesday in the South Sudanese capital Juba and met President Salva Kiir Mayardit to discuss the bilateral relations between the two countries.

JUBA – The Sudanese defense minister Yasin Ibrahim Yasin has arrived on Wednesday in the South Sudanese capital Juba and met President Salva Kiir Mayardit to discuss the bilateral relations between the two countries.

In a statement following the meeting between the visiting senior Sudanese government official and President Salva Kiir, the presidency said the Yasin delivered a letter of bilateral cooperation from the Sudanese government to Kiir.

“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit received and met with Sudan’s Minister of Defence Hon Yasin Ibrahim Yasin,” the South Sudan presidency said in the statement seen by Sudans Post on Wednesday evening.

Speaking to the media following the meeting between Kiir and the Sudanese defense minister, presidential advisor on security Tut Gatluak said Mr. Yasin “delivered to H.E President Salva Kiir a message of bilateral cooperation and follow-up on the implementation of the Revitalized Peace Agreement from the Chairman of Sudan’s Sovereign Council Abdel Fattah al-Burhan.”

For his part, the Sudanese defense minister who is expected to meet other senior government officials in Juba said “South Sudan and Sudan will open their common borders for river, and land transport in the near future.”
