KUAJOK – A group of heavily armed youth from South Sudan’s Unity state have attacked a village in the country’s Warrap state killing four people including a woman and her two children, authorities in Kuajok have said.

Albino Kuek, the spokesman for Warrap state governor said the incident which also let to the killing of a man and wounding of several others took place exactly in an area in Ajakuac Payam in Twic County.

Ajakuac is a border village between Warrap and Unity state’s Mayom county and has suffered several attacks in the past.

“The unnamed mother and her two sons were killed in the same place…and their relative was killed kilometers away,” Albino Kuek said.

Kuek said the incident was being addressed with government of neighboring Unity state saying youth in Warrap have been told by the authorities there not to retaliate against the incident which has since angered many people in the state.

Kuek said the governor has urged the people to “remain calm as the government takes steps to address the issue.”
