JUBA — Multiple sources have disclosed that there are looming tensions at the Nile Petroleum Corporation (Nilepet) after the government institution’s most senior cashier is set to exit his job there due to corruption allegations.

Last week staff of the Corporation, the country’s national petroleum and gas institution, threatened to go on strike if Mr. Riing Charles, the accused Senior cashier, was not removed from the position.

The accusations were as a result of staff salaries’ embezzlement and corruption-related allegations.

A shocking report revealed that Mr. Riing could squander about $20,000 from staff salaries on monthly basis, a practice that is not always investigated.

But when the issue became a media chapter lately last week, Mr. Riing and his colleagues within the unit threatened to identify the staffer who disclosed the information.

“Now, the tension is high within the work station but this is simple, Mr. Riing can just go because he has stolen enough money since his appointment,” a reliable source within the unit disclosed to Sudans Post on Tuesday.

The monetary officer has subjected company’s employees to misery through illegal deductions of salaries and pocketing without prior knowledge of the Managing Director, according to the source.

It is alleged that Mr. Riing is related to the Managing Director, Eng. Bol Riing Mourwel, giving him upper hand to mistreat employees.

Earlier this year, Eng. Bol Riing Mourwel, the Managing Director of the National Gas and Petroleum Corporation, received terrible criticisms following corruption and poor management allegations.

“However, the solution now is only for Eng. Bol to remove his cousin Mr. Riing from the position of being a Senior Cashier,” the source added.

Many calls by Sudans Post to Mr. Bol weren’t answered. Repeated text messages requesting interview went unattended.

Mr. Ring Charles, the accused cashier couldn’t attend to calls as well, but he was quoted saying that he cannot get removed since his uncle was his protector.

“But, if he is not removed then Nilpet will be left by many to him and his Uncle,” said a source on Tuesday.

According to sources, Mr. Ring Charles deducts $20 from every employee pocketing upwards of $20,000 every month.

At least the country’s Nile Petroleum and Gas Corporation (Nilpet) has more than 1,000 employees.

But, the cashier whom employees accused of corruption has grown rich within a very short time as a result of his quick rich scheme ripping from the sweat of employees.

He (Charles) is alleged have bought a high-end house in Kampala where he travels to every weekend.

“If Charles is not removed from his position, he will destroy the corporation and soil the legacy of the MD, Eng. Bol Ring Mourwel,” Mr. John, another employee added.

Further multiple sources said, Charles siphons $10,000 every month from the corporation in the pretext that it was meant for rent of the MD’s house but the MD was bought a house earlier on cutting out the need for monthly rent.

Previously, the leadership of Boards of Directors for the Nilpet formed a committee to investigate the accusations levelled against the top administration

“Tensions loom at Nilepet as cashier is accused of corruption”

What is Nilepet?, Oil is going to finish, but the land is not going to go anywhere. Petroleum is just one of our product that we, don’t want our enemies to benefit from ever ever again. But we have our usual lives, ‘a beer kɔc xɔ̈th nhiim’. We have told our fools that their bullish*ts had long since been challenged. Cashier is just ‘a bank teller when Catcher is to him/her/it, two different words, and are not ‘Muonyjiengs/Jaangs/Jenges/Dinkas’ words.>>>
