Three siblings went missing in Cairo – family

CAIRO, EGYPT – Three siblings have gone missing in the Egyptian capital Cairo, according to family members and community leaders there.

According to their mother, Veronica John, the three siblings, Nyazola Ruot Gai, 13, Chieng Ruot Gai, 10, and Goar Ruot Gai, 7, went missing after they got down from an apartment without the knowledge of the mother.

“Yesterday, three my three children, Nyazola, Chieng and Goar went missing here in Ain Shams. My youngest son who is learning to speak came to me in my room and told me something which I couldn’t understand at the time. Went I got to see them in their room, I found out that they left the apartment,” Ms. John told Sudans Post this afternoon.

“It was around 01:00PM went they disappeared. We went to ask the neighbors next down and no one could tell if they saw them,” she added.

Veronica said she went to a police station in Ain Shams and was told to return to the station today, Friday after Friday prayers, but said she was again told to return in the evening as the officer in charge of the CID was not available.

“We went to the Ain Shams police department to report the case a few hours after they went missing on Thursday. When we arrived there, we were told to come back on Friday after prayers. This afternoon, we returned there and we were told to come back because the person responsible for the CID unit was not in his office,” Veronica said.

Veronica further said they have contacted the embassy in Cairo, but no measures have been taken.

“We have also spoken to the embassy about these but nothing has yet been done. I am registered as a refugee and I am trying to contact the UNHCR in Cairo about the kids but no one from them has responded to my phone call,” Veronica further said.

For his part, Thomas Duoth Chuol, a community leader and a teacher at a refugee school separately told Sudans Post that the children studies at Sobat Modern Educational Center where he teaches.

He said they have been informed by the family about the issue and were joining efforts with the family to help trace down the children.
