The fighting erupted between two communities of Lou in Alebek Payam on Wednesday last week.
Ariik Mawien Gum, Chairperson of the Lou Arrik Youth Association (LAYA), said the fighting was triggered by inciters’ intellectual youth.
“The tragic conflict in Lou Ariik Community has resulted in the deaths of 40 individuals from both sides of the conflict, with approximately 100 more suffering from severe gunshot injuries and lacking medical attention,” Mawien said in a statement issued on Tuesday.
“Despite the allegations and wild propaganda initiated by intellectual youth from the cleaning side of Apuk Padoc and other communities who were involved, it is baseless and not true.”
Mawien condemned what he called an “inhumane act” and called for dialogue to restore peace in the region.
“It is deeply troubling to witness members of the same community engaging in such senseless violence, especially as the government stands by while one family is targeted for extinction in broad daylight,” he said.
He said besides violence, the area is currently affected by flooding and displaced populations hiding in the bushes, fearing for their lives at the hands of their own people.
“We urge the humanitarian community and all peacebuilding agencies to take the ongoing campaign of violence seriously,” he added, calling on the UN mission to provide security and protect innocent lives, while accusing the government of neglecting its duty.
Warrap State information minister, William Wol Mayom, who had told Sudans Post on Sunday that the deaths stood at 20, confirmed a ‘sharp increase’ in the number of people who died.
“However, I cannot confirm the exact number, whether it is 40 or more. We aim to avoid media engagement as it can incite more violence,” he said.
Recently, President Salva Kiir Mayardit directed the newly appointed Governor of Warrap State, Francis Marial Abur, to swiftly address the violence plaguing the region.
Many believe that the appointment of Francis Marial will help quell the violence in Warrap State.
It is one of South Sudan’s conflict hotspots, which still sees fighting between rival ethnic communities despite the 2018 peace agreement to end the civil war.
that youths leader Ariik Mawien Gum is part of problem. From Warrap State and I know very well that the first fighting was about name change of Alabek County to Lou Ariik County. Both State government and Juba’s government failed to investigate and brought those people who were causing problems in Lou Mawien community of Tonj North County.
the does the two governments I mean Warrap State and Juba’s government don’t know who are those people generated that problem in Lou Mawien community? the answer is no why because they knew the people who had have caused the conflict but they failed to arrested them just like the way they failed to stopped killing in South Sudan nation.
Another question is that, do you know the people who were causing conflicts in Lou Mawien community of Tonj North County? The answer is yes, okay can you mentioned them?
1 Major general Mawien Magol ( Mawien Mawien Ngok Achut) he is working in National security with former Chief director general Akol Koor Kuc and now Lt, general Akec Tong Aleu.
2. Tonj North MP Mawien Dhor Ariik and he is working in Juba. He was the one who thought about changing Alabek County name to his grand grand father Ariik Mawien and the majority of Lou Mawien Ariik community rejected and they wanted to maintain the name Alabek County but him and major general Mawien Mawien Ngok resisted and that was why people fought and 11 people killed and 38 wounded at first fighting.
3. Business man Mr. Abut Chok-Dout, him and major general Mawien Mawien Ngok (Mawien Magol) they were using money to bribed some people so that, they will keep fighting their interest.
4. Bridger general Kook Mawien Bair-Kuei, he was bribed to disorient his own clans Patek and that fueling conflicts.
5. Bridger general or Colonel Koor Ariikdit, the mastermind of conflict in Alabek County or Payam of Tonj North County.
6. Bridger general and he was also the former commissioner of either Alabek County or Tonj North County. he was supporting major general Mawien Mawien Ngok ( Mawien Magol) and Mawien Dhor Ariik, the current MP of Tonj North County.
7. captain Ariik Kuol Ring known as Ariik Kuol Yai. he is the most trouble makers of that conflicts.
8. Ariik Mawien Gum Ariik, the current Lou Ariik youth Association in Juba. The people of Tonj and Warrap State know them, they are main causes of death in Alabek Payam but both Warrap State and Juba’s government have failed very terribly to arrested them.
The second fighting was not caused by them but still it was related to them in many ways. The second fighting was started during the ceremony of late paramount Chief Dhordit Ariik Mawien in the beginning of 2024. The girl was pregnant by one of the boy from the current MP honorable Mawien Dhordit Ariik and that man was hiding in Juba the day of Ceremony of late paramount Chief then, the brother of girl beat up the boy who pregnant his sister and that was the cause of second fighting in Alabek Payam. The fighting just went on and off until it is out of control. yes, 40 people dead and more than 100 people wounded right now as you can see many people injured brought to Juba hospitals and many more wounded are still in Lou Mawien community. The area is fully with flooding and there is no road but the government and none government Agencies might use air Lifting them to Juba hospitals if they really cares about citizens of Lou Mawien community.
The President Salva Kiir Mayardit and all his five vices Presidents and the Warrap State’s government failed to arrested the above mentioned people who have caused killing in Lou Mawien community of Tonj North County. innocent civilians are dying a cross the country because the current government is lacking responsibility and accountability and this is very sad indeed.
