JUBA – A South Sudanese cleric in the country’s Lakes state has been arrested after Most Rev Christian, the newly elected Bishop of Rumbek Diocese, was wounded in an attack on Sunday night, sources have said.
“John Mathiang who is the coordinator of the Catholic Diocese of Rumbek has been arrested in connection with the shooting of Most Rev. Christian,” the source with direct knowledge tells Sudans Post.
Insecurity in South Sudan’s Lakes state has escalated in recent days including the abduction of foreigners.
A foreign trader of Sudanese National was kidnapped earlier this months by kidnappers who include a member of the National Security Service.
They were demanding 20 million South Sudanese Pounds but were arrested by the National Security Service.
