WASHINGTON – Former President Donald Trump has been projected to win a historic second term in the White House, defeating Vice President Kamala Harris, according to Fox News.
Trump’s victory marks a rare return to office, making him the second president in U.S. history, after Grover Cleveland, to serve nonconsecutive terms.
Trump’s path to a second presidency followed a nearly two-year campaign, launched in November 2022, shortly after the American midterm elections.
Running on his previous record and sharply criticizing the Biden-Harris administration, Trump pledged to “Make America Great Once Again.”
Throughout his campaign, he highlighted what he described as the administration’s mishandling of inflation and the worsening border crisis, which he attributed to the rollback of key policies from his first term.
The 2024 GOP primary saw Trump emerge as the dominant candidate in a crowded field, ultimately securing endorsements from all primary rivals.
Initially set to face President Joe Biden, the campaign took a dramatic turn in July when Biden suspended his re-election bid following mounting pressure from party insiders after a difficult debate in June.
