JUBA – South Sudan police authorities in Lakes State have arrested two young men in connection with the fatal beating to death of a young man in Rumbek Central County.

Lakes State police spokesman Maj. Elijah Mabor Makuac told Sudans Post today that the victim was assaulted with sticks on Sunday in the Waar-wade area and later died from his injuries at a hospital.

Two suspects have been detained, and an investigation is underway to determine the motive and identify the perpetrator.

“The cause [of the fight] is actually not known simply because the person was evacuated unconscious and he was unable to explain what triggered their fight,” Makuac said.

In a separate incident, Makuac reported that another individual in Yirol West County died after being beaten by an unidentified assailant.

The victim’s relatives initially took him to a traditional healer, but he later passed away. Police have sent the body for a postmortem examination and arrested a suspect.

The cause of the conflict remains under investigation.

Makuac emphasized that police are awaiting official medical reports in both cases to establish the exact causes of death.

He said that further details will be provided as the investigations progress.
