JUBA – South Sudan government and the embassy of the United States of America in Juba have signed an agreement granting the American mission a new compound in the capital Juba, according to a statement by the US embassy.
The deal which was signed by U.S Chargé d’Affaires William Flens, on behalf of the American government, and South Sudan foreign ministry undersecretary Mayen Dut Wol, on behalf of South Sudan, was signed on July 14 in Juba.
“On July 14, Chargé d’Affaires (CDA) William Flens and the Embassy’s Management Officer signed a lease for a new embassy compound in Juba,” the U.S embassy said in a statement seen by Sudans Post this evening.
“South Sudanese counterparts included undersecretaries from the Ministries of Foreign Affairs and of Land, Housing, and Urban Development,” the statement added.
It said that the “Construction of the new embassy is expected to begin in 2023 and will be a tangible sign of the deep and enduring commitment of the United States to the people of South Sudan and to our current and future bilateral relationship.”
