Unity State launches COVID-19 booster doze vaccination campaign

Speaking to Sudans Post on Thursday, Acting Director-General of the state ministry of health Stephen Nyieth Duoth said that the campaign has been conducted in Koch, Rubkona, Guit, Leer, Mayom, Mayendit and Panyijiar counties and will proceed to Ruweng Administrative area.

BENTIU, NOV. 3, 2023 (SUDANS POST) – The government of South Sudan’s Unity State has launched a two-week COVID-19 booster dose vaccination campaign targeting a population of 104,515 people in all seven counties of the state and the neighboring Ruweng Administrative Area.

Speaking to Sudans Post on Thursday, Acting Director-General of the state ministry of health Stephen Nyieth Duoth said that the campaign has been conducted in Koch, Rubkona, Guit, Leer, Mayom, Mayendit and Panyijiar counties and will proceed to Ruweng Administrative area.

“The state ministry of health has officially declared Covid-19 booster doze vaccination campaign for two weeks in Greater Unity State and neighboring Ruweng Administrative area,” he said in his office in the state capital Bentiu.

He indicated said that the purpose for carrying out Covid-19 booster doze vaccination campaign is to support those who were vaccinated and will support the previous vaccine.

“If you were vaccinated, you still need to receive booster doze to support the previous vaccine that you have received, the booster doze is safe and will protect you from getting Covid-19, please go to any nearest vaccination campaign and received booster jabs,” he added.

The senior health official said the campaign was carried out with support for the World Health Organization (WHO) and humanitarian health partners in operating in the northern South Sudan state.
