JUBA – An unknown gunman has killed the son of former Central Equatoria state Clement Wani Konga, a few kilometres outside the country’s capital Juba, police spokesman Major-General Daniel Justin said.

Yaba Clement was gunned down at Lado Mountain, an area north of Juba, where he and his father operate an agricultural farm, according to General Justin.

“Yes I can confirm this. He was killed after leaving Juba going to Lado mountain where he owns a farm. But up to now, we don’t have more details on how this young man was killed,” he said, adding that “the culprit has not been apprehended.”

Despite the signing of the revitalized peace agreement, the capital Juba and other towns in the country are witnessing rise in crimes.

Last week, two men were killed by unknown gunmen who infiltrated the United Nations protection of civilians sites in Bentiu.

No arrest has been made, and IDPs have demanded that UN peacekeepers who are withdrawing troops stay.
