JUBA – South Sudan’s Vice President for Economic Cluster and Chairperson for High Level Peace Committee, Dr. James Wani Igga, on Monday accused political elites of inciting communal violence in Jonglei and Pibor Administrative areas.

Speaking during the opening of  people to people peace conference of Jonglei State and Pibor Administrative Area at the Freedom Hall in Juba on Monday, Igga urged the politicians to desist from luring people of South Sudan back to war for no good reason.

“We the politicians have played a big role in this conflict. This thing will not take us anywhere. If you want  to  take South Sudan  back to war again for no reason, we will not accept,” Igga said.

Dr. Wani directed the chiefs to make sure that stolen cattle, and abducted children and women  are returned to their rightful owners before the end of the conference.

He added that the  peace conference will help to stop bloodshed in Jonglei and Pibor.

“We must stop conflict if we want development in our country. Nobody will accept to go and work in a place where there is conflict even if you bring that person from abroad. So we have to help the government for sustainable peace in the country,” he said.

The top government official called for deployment of organized forces in hotspots areas between Jonglei and Pibor to prevent further attack among the various communities.
