VP Nyandeng to lead South Sudan delegation to 76th UN General Assembly in New York

President Salva Kiir last represented South Sudan at the General Assembly in September 2014, and has since then been delegating his deputies, James Wani Igga, and Taban Deng Gai.

JUBA – South Sudan’s Vice-President for Youth and Gender Cluster Rebecca Nyandeng De Mabior has been delegated by President Salva Kiir Mayardit to lead the South Sudan delegation to the 76th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) meeting in New York, United States, this month, according to a statement by the President.

President Salva Kiir last represented South Sudan at the General Assembly in September 2014, and has since then been delegating his deputies, James Wani Igga, and Taban Deng Gai.

“His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit met in his Office, with The Vice President, Her Excellency Rebecca Nyandeng Garang De Mabior. In attendance was the Minister of Presidential Affairs Hon Dr Barnaba Marial Benjamin,” he said.

Speaking to the media following the meeting, presidential minister Barnaba Marial Benjamin said “His Excellency President Salva Kiir Mayardit delegated Her Excellency Rebecca Nyandeng Garang De Mabior to lead a high-level delegation for the 76th session of the UN General Assembly that will take place mid of September 2021.”
