Speaking to Sudans Post, Nelson Gibson Hosea Sarr, a businessman based in Yambio, the capital of Western Equatoria State, said his donation will cover preparation costs for upcoming celebration of Azande monarchy which was reinstalled in 2022 after 117 years following invasion of Britain.
“As a young businessman and proud youth of the Republic of South Sudan, I felt it was my duty to contribute to this great event. This year’s celebration has been entrusted to the youth, and I must do my part,” he said.
Sarr also donated 20 bags of cements for the construction of a new palace for the King Atorobo Peni Rikito who became ruler of the Azande following restoration in February 2022.
The Kingdom is currently preparing for a grand celebration on February 9, marking the third year since the Azande people restored their kingdom after collapsed in 1905 following the killing its King, Gbudwe whose grandson is the current monarch.
Isaac Sabir Gbuku, the kingdom’s head of anniversary preparations, said this year’s marking will feature colourful celebrations and glamorous events.
“Currently, the kingdom is receiving support from different tribes in Western Equatoria State and across South Sudan. With this level of support, I am confident that this year’s celebration will be more colourful than ever,” Gbuku said.
He further said that top government officials will be expected at the event which will take a week.
