It is entirely different from others who hold public offices. Many thought that he is not fit for holding office, but President Salva Kiir must have had good reasons for appointing him.

His father is also famous for being the former First Vice President of Sudan and first president of the Government of Southern Sudan and a former armed opposition leader. The country’s warring factions had a peace agreement that led to TGoNU (Transition Government of National Unity) formation. That peace government role was to administer South Sudan for two and a half years, pending elections.

John Garang and his close friend crossed from Ethiopia’s border to Kenya, and the securities caught them at Moyale. Since the late Jaramogi Odinga Oginga rescued them, the prominent families have had a close relationship to the extent of Mabior Garang de Mabior considering Kenya as his second home.
