JUBA – South Sudan government’s committee tasked with development of peace roadmap has invited civil society leaders including the Executive Director of Community Empowerment for Progress Organization (CEPO) Edmund Yakani for a meeting in order for them to make contributions to the proposed presidency roadmap.
Last month, the presidency announced the formation of a committee to develop a peace roadmap to guide the transitional government in the implementation process of the remaining critical tasks provided for in the revitalized peace agreement which will pave way for the conduct of free and fair elections in the world’s youngest country.
Speaking to Sudans Post this afternoon, Yakani said that the government committee has invited members of the civil society organizations to go for a meeting set for 3:00PM in order for them to add their contributions to the roadmap.
“The government committee on the development of the roadmap has invited the civil society to go and make inputs on the proposed roadmap as stakeholders today at 3:00 PM,” Yakani told Sudans Post from the capital Juba.
The outspoken activist further said “it is good that the committee responded to CEPO call and CEPO will ensure that all the civil society that are signatories to the R-ARCSS will be mobilize to attend the meeting.”
Yakani is a signatory of the revitalized peace agreement on behalf of the South Sudanese civil society organizations. He has – on many occasions – asked the government to involve other stakeholders such as the civil society organizations in all the decisions affecting the revitalized peace agreement including the development of the peace roadmap.
