JUBA – The Commissioner of Yambio County of South Sudan’s Western Equatoria state, Hussein Enocka, has died this morning in the Sudanese capital Khartoum after long illness, a senior government official close to Governor Alfred Futuyo said.

Alex Didi who works at the governor’s office as the press secretary said late Enocka passed on at around 4:00AM at a hospital in Khartoum on Sunday.

“We learnt of the tragic news of the passing of Hussein Enocka, the commissioner of Yambio County, in Khartoum this morning. He was receiving his medication. He passed away in the hospital at 4 am according to the information,” Did is quoted by the City Review as saying.

The close governor’s allies said the late county commissioner had been under treatment in Khartoum for around six months before his death and described him as a great man who had never segregated citizens of Western Equatoria state in Yambio.

“We have lost a great man. The late was a very great man. The man who dedicated his leadership to work for the community is a leader that can appreciate and look at the community as a role model,” Didi said of the commissioner.

“He never segregated but respected and worked for everybody, whether small or big, since his first election as a Member of Parliament in 2010,” he added.
