RUMBEK – A young man was killed in a motorcycle accident on the road between Kuelkuac and Wulu County in Lakes State, local authorities said on Friday.

Lakes State Police Spokesperson Maj. Elijah Mabor Makuac told Sudans Post on Friday that the victim, a young boy, was speeding on the motorcycle when he lost control and overturned, sustaining fatal neck injuries.

“The body was taken to the hospital for a postmortem, which confirmed that the cause of death was a broken neck,” Makuac said.

Angelina Adhel, chairperson of the Civil Society Network in Lakes State, expressed deep sorrow over the incident and called for stricter traffic regulations.

“We urge the government of Lakes State and traffic police authorities to take immediate action to prevent such tragedies,” Adhel said. “No one under the age of 18 should be allowed to ride a motorcycle.”

She emphasized the need for proper training and supervision of young riders, as many lack the necessary skills and experience to operate motorcycles safely.

“Traffic police should enforce the law and ensure that young people are not endangering their lives and the lives of others,” Adhel added.
