WASHINGTON, JANUARY 27th 2023 (SUDANS POST) – A United States lawmaker has described South Sudan civil rights activist Peter Biar Ajak as one of the renowned Lost Boys who survived horrific conditions and is a true testament to strength of human spirit.

This week, Senator Chris Van Hollen, US Senate chair of Sub-Committee on Africa & Global Health and member of Senate Foreign Relations Committee, met Peter Biar to discuss the human rights situation in South Sudan in the wake of detention of journalists in the world’s youngest country.

In his statement, Senator Hollen praised Biar as one of the renown Lost Boys of Sudan who survived horrific conditions and vowed to work with him to achieve a South Sudan where there is respect for human rights.

“Peter, one of the renowned ‘Lost Boys’ who triumphed over horrific conditions, is a true testament to the strength of the human spirit,” he wrote on Twitter.

“I look forward to working with him to achieve the vision of a South Sudan that is committed to human rights, justice and democracy,” he added.
